BRIXTON X HARLEM FESTIVAL

This August will see the first Brixton X Harlem Festival, exploring the common threads between Brixton and Harlem. Through business twinning and individual projects, these two destination districts will showcase their respective businesses through talks, events, exhibitions and more!

The event is being organised by the Brixton and Harlem Business Improvement Districts (BID), which joined forces last Summer in the first-ever twinning of two such organisations. Both BIDs are located in communities with a long and rich history of being the epicentres for a convergence of diversity, informed by a high percentage of its population being of African descent, representing various parts of the diaspora living and working within the BIDs' borders.

Activities are already underway in preparation for the event. As we post this, a Brixton delegation is  making its way to Harlem to finalise proceedings. Brixton Brewery is creating a limited edition brew in partnership with Harlem Brewing Company, and we hope to bring you any merchandise from that partnership.  Brixton's Market Row Rum is working on a speciality cocktail, and local restaurants will be experimenting with dishes for Harlem-inspired menus.

Diverse is busy researching a twin business in Harlem to partner with, and we're super-excited about taking part in the festival.
